Damiani Creates The Sculpture in Gold For Prince Albert of Monaco

Nov 20th, 2015

Damiani, ambassador of Made in Italy internationally, which has been making hand-made jewels for more than 90 years, was chosen by Barry X Ball, the internationally famous Californian artist, to create a sculpture  in solid gold depicting an artistic interpretation of the head of His Serene Highness Albert II, Prince Alberto II of Monaco.

The artist is very well-known for the use of futuristic processing techniques but with a marked aptitude and passion for the artists of the Italian Renaissance. He found the perfect partner for the creation of the sculpture in the most precious material used to date, 18 kt solid gold, in Damiani.

The best goldsmiths and designers of Damiani completed the sculpture of enormous complexity after a long period of co-operation with the sculptor, which lasted a year. The intricate forms, the rigorous attention to detail, the reading of the work with details and symbols which follow each other all over the surface and in its meanders have allowed an exercise of unequalled technical stylistic virtuosity. The same dedication that the craftsmen apply in the creation of marvellous jewels, valued internationally, was used in this work of about 13 kilograms of gold and more than 1000 hours of work.

The work was consigned directly to the Prince by Barry X Ball, Guido Damiani, President of the Damiani group, and Christian Rizzetto, the Damiani master goldsmith who leaded the project and worked on it, and will be officially presented on 19 November in the National Festival of Monaco and then permanently displayed at Palazzo at Galerie des Glaces.

This is a further international confirmation of the ability and manufacturing quality of Damiani, valued around the world for the all-Italian style, design and manufacturing craftsmanship of its creations. Damiani, which was founded and still based in Valenza, the most important goldsmith area in the world, is the only jewelry company in the world to have won 18 Diamonds International Awards, or the world jewelry Oscar in addition to dozens of international prizes. In addition, Damiani is the most award winning-jewelry company. In more than 90 years of its history Damiani was the supplier of the Italian Royal House and is often chosen by kings, queens, princes and heads of state, as on this occasion, in addition to the most famous celebrities of world cinema.
